Thanks for all the info. This thread got me interested again. I’m gonna do some more research. According to the Colt online serial number search this one was delivered in 1912. Apparently they issued the same serial again in 1918. That’s weird because I looked it up before and I think there was only one entry. I think you are right that it wasn’t totally reworked. My understanding was the US military issued some kind of update kit for the original 1911’s to address whatever issues. So this gun is in some kind of known hybrid condition. I’m gonna look for the forgotten weapons video unless I imagined it. We don’t know exactly where this one was during WWI exactly, but it was given to Philippines and then it went with my grandpa on the Seawolf to Australia. We’ve had it ever since. I’ve been telling my dad to at least rub some grease on it. He knows better than to let languish like that. Here’s an unrelated 1917, can’t even remember if it’s a Colt or Smith and Wesson. It takes the Half Moon clips.
