Mutations cannot create new genetic material, this has never been observed, and even if they could, you'd need small and incredibly rare mutations to somehow give an advantage that lets a single organism reproduce to infinity while all others die, and for the newly produced organisms to somehow not have their body work and erase those mutations as they always do, as picrel describes.
