If you build your own decks, yes. But too many beginners get trapped in Core 2k, Core 6k, isolated kanji study etc, and then get addicted to "streaks" and "progress" as if they're earning achievements in a videogame, and post their Anki stats pages online for bragging rights. We call these people "Anki drones."

Pic related didn't try to read his first manga until after 4 entire years of Anki study, and then whined about how difficult it was. I had finished reading 100+ volumes in that time.
