22M, software developer, good career but bored and lonely. I want to join the military but cannot decide what branch. This decision has been paining me for like a year now. Took the ASVAB and got a 96, fully medically qualified. I was in Civil Air Patrol when I was younger, so the obvious would have been the Air Force...but I don't want another job where I am at a desk 100% of my enlistment, and it sounds like all non-combat jobs in the USAF don't do any cool training. I want to learn tactics, jump out of planes, fly around in helicopters, shoot guns, etc. So I looked at the Army and >>>/k/meg told me about 35N Signals Intelligence Analyst and it looks right up my alley. Get to do a lot of the aforementioned + learn valuable skills and get a top secret clearance. Software developers with intel experience get paid a ton.
But I feel like I'm doing myself a disservice if I go Army because I always wanted to join the Air Force (I didn't before because I was on ADHD medications, I weaned myself off of them), but if I join the Air Force it'll be just another corporate office job.
Honestly I kind of regret doing as much research about both branches as I did, kinda ruined the allure ig.
