The sad thing about SV is that all of the hate for the visuals and performance is justified, but the game itself is fun. The open world fits the series, exploration felt good since they rewarded you well with rare mons. You're free to do things literally any order you want. You can have your Pokemon follow you and interact with them, even camp out with them. Mechanics were streamlined and made easier to access, and if you want to count the DLC, they added some legitimately fun modes to multiplayer (BBQ farming is basically co-op where you run around the open world doing random tasks and you get rewarded for every task anyone in the lobby completes).
If it didn't look like absolute shit from an ass, it would have been very well received.
