A house covered in gold, just as the clothing, is gaudy, and stupid.
This building is simple, orderly, it draws attention not to its cost but to its design, it shows appreciation of proportion, it is tasteful.
You expect it to be a library, a court of law, a house of government, some place where reason dominates and sensible ideas are put forth.
