Thinking about switching out of pure computer science into electromechanical or mechatronics. I think physical automation and robotics are the next big step in tech and SWE is abit cooked now that the market is saturated with grads and AI tools are making them less necessary. I'd love to work on genetics or biotech or something on that side but I'm not fit for the wet labs unfortunately.

The downside is that it's usually sort of a glorified factory job where you're the privileged to be the one running the factory but ultimately, you still have to be there 40 hours a week like everybody else. I'd have to buy some vending machines and a laundromat and look for ways my skills could translate into business. Maybe in 10 years I can run a repair service out of my van and a custom consumer robotics shop in the garage.
