I dunno if you're joking, but there's definitely players that have different priorities
I know some will hyper optimize the strongest DPS on every element just to perform better in coop, others focus on just the 3 teams needed for UR or just the one campaign team and for PvP you do have to OL and doll up totally different characters even just for the pow increase
If your focus is on SR you most likely spread out your investment over a great many characters to cover every element without optimizing too much
