Yeah, this is pretty much what happened. The first threads after the remake's announcement were filled with excited discussion, but it soon died out once it became obvious that said remake would be a downgrade in every way. Since actual fans of OFF didn't like it, these threads are always filled with people who don't care about OFF that just want to discuss the current controversy.

I'm pretty bummed. Even the LISA remake was only just divisive and managed to deliver some new content that was still considered worthwhile (new boss battle themes, Joy mask lore). Nobody fucking likes the OFF remake, and with good reason.
