>I like characters who are ambitious yet failures and really dislike whiny ones with natural talents
for a long time my opinion was the opposite, i thought people who were show-off failures were pathetic because they almost deserve to have their pride blow up in their faces for being such attention whores. i believed people who were more subtle or benign failures probably had a more realistic view on what they were doing and were more prepared for failure.

i don't want to date asuka, i just want her to feel better about herself

>validate the girl a little bit outside of missions
what's sad is asuka's fear of being replaced and not mattering anymore is basically proven true once she gets mind raped, she's completely useless and is dismissed and forgotten about almost instantly. of course, the question there is was everyone so willing and eager to drop her because they found her so annoying to deal with, or was she dead to them the minute she stopped being useful, no matter what her personality was like?
