The key to getting lots of fanart is to be both obscenely popular and very easy to draw - simplistic. Ender Lillies/Magnolia designs are just too out of your usual Twitter hack's league.
You might say it doesn't take as much effort if you just draw the main character naked, but the Metroidvania crowd isn't super into that, somehow.
