Got to poke around some Slovakian BMP-2s and yep, they're very small. I couldn't sit in the back, period.
One of the tank commanders in my platoon at the time was a Slovakian who immigrated over as a child not long after the fall of the wall. Joined the US Army in 2001, was there for the invasion of Iraq, did 10 years in the US Army, got bored, and decided to get out and go back to Slovakia. Got there and realized he didn't know anything else, so he joined the Slovakian Army and ended up on BMPs. Did that for 6 years, then decided to come back to the US Army. Hell of a story, hell of a guy, always with the most insane stories to tell. I miss him.

When we got to the base in Slovakia (Lešt, I think?) our resident Slovak still knew a bunch of the Slovakian troops there from his time in the army. He let one of the drivers in our platoon drive around a BMP-2, which I don't think I thought I've ever hear in the US Army.
Loved Slovakia, was a great time and great training.
