Webster's is for American English, the global lingua franca. If you're having conversations in American English Webster's is generally the better authority. If you're having conversations outside of American English or trying to bring non-American pronunciation into American English you get what you deserve.
By the way, Webster's lists both pronunciations, it just lists his first. Both pronunciations are correct but yours is less common and you were incorrect to say that his was incorrect.
