Initial shading and first round of drybrushed highlights done. I like to go in on terrain pieces like buildings and use multiple brown tones and even greyish green, beiges etc in different spots to create a more visually interesting look and natural appearance to the weathering. Buildings and vehicles don't weather the same all around. Certain parts like corners and parts lower to the ground weather and decay much faster than others. Probably try to pull the shading on the palisade spikes back a touch though. I used out of the bottle skeleton horde on the stripped tips. Then I diluted some gore grunta fur for the darker parts of the wood. Probably should have diluted the Skelly horde too.
Then I just hit it with a rough drybrush again. To get the contrast paint to run well I gave it a heavy coat of polyurethane varnish last night to seal it.
Another advantage to the thicker polyurethane by Vallejo other than the large available volume and fairly cheap price compared to citadel is that you can use it to seal MDF or any other wood with a solid coat or two. You can also use pva glue, but I find the Vallejo stuff is cheap and plenty enough with a better finish and stronger protection than PVA so I just use it for sealing.
