Continuing on the characters I feel like the 'antagonist' group was on the weaker side, they were kinda likeable but they weren't super special or memorable either. There were a few I liked more, Hu Yi and Himari being good examples so maybe it's better to call it uneven? Doesn't feel right either. I'd say they all had their time in the spotlight and great scenes, but here too it does feel like some deserved more...
At least I really do appreciate a very good red herring regarding Tonosaka - he's just a psycho doctor who does fuckall despite being a very obvious 'im an evil guy im gonna do evil things'. He just ends up absolutely hilarious
That unpredictability, or rather surprise was probably the greatest strength of the story, particularly one route has a superb scene involving cannibalism no one could possibly have seen coming and the true route has an amazing, extremely heavy flashback sequence.
It also extends to the fights - what stood out were the twists, fakeouts, surprises and unexpected outcomes. Besides that they were ok/good for the most part, admittedly not very hype, but entertaining. Although Sachi's power needed to have been used more, it had such a cool design and was the one I looked forward to the most but it was present maybe 2-3 times in the whole game.
Visually it was ok, nothing really groundbreaking, some decent animations, mixed bag of CGs. The music was at least refreshing and you can feel a strong theme uniting the tracks, it's no muramasa or dies irae but I might come back to some of them.
It was hard to sit through the first 2 routes at times, but it really picks up in the true route - despite the game taking me over a week I marathoned it in mostly a day - and the theme makes it worthwhile with two strong endings. Definitely an interesting/unique game.
