I read it for the first time recently and I didn't think that Moeka's D-mail cancellation made much sense. From the perspective of the Moeka who received it, she got a text from FB dated in the future saying not to search for the 5100. Why did that time's Tennouji just call off the search after that? suffering. Kind of a weird route, a bunch of loose'y 'why didn't X' developments and an extremely introductory route, feels like it didn't do much else than foreshadow future developments and set up basics.
At least it was better than DI Kasumi's, but it more or less followed the same formula.
I still give 0 fucks about Kamori, but I liked the PTSD resolution with sharing the pain and happiness. It was kinda cute, well besides the part about fucking eating her alive and fusing with her Definitely a bittersweet ending focusing on the sweet side.

dunno yet, it's hard to care about the characters which might be the biggest issue, but maybe the further routes will fix that. Music isn't bad but it's no KKK either.
Little to no SoL at least means the pacing doesn't let you get bored and the fights themselves are fun, can kinda see bits of the logical/realistic manner carrying over from maggot baits and nemurenu. Though 2 most important fights this route were kinda repetitive as they involved the MC running around dodging for most of the time - pretty sure a few sentences got reused too. And a glaring 'why didn't he just use X' issue that was never touched on.
6-7/10 off the first route, but some really cool ideas, sfx and overall enjoyment make it worthwhile above what the score'd usually be like. So far it seems the score's accurate, even if it underrepresents it a bit.

If you want 100%, It's 80+. A lot of the length comes from the fact that each game within the game has multiple little routes within it.

The "defuse the bomb" game is a perfect example. It's a series of bomb-defusal puzzles, and your team of 3 have 3 disabilities spread between the 3 people: blind, deaf, mute. Most games would railroad you into 1 disability to streamline the content, but Game of Fourtune lets you pick your own disability, which leads to different puzzles and content in 3 different variants of the same game. If you're blind you don't get to see the CG and have to rely on finding contradictions in the text to solve the puzzles, or if you're mute you can see the CG but have to solve the puzzle by listening to the dialogue from the others to catch miscommunications and then you get choices for gestures to make to try and get your point across. The game goes the extra mile all around, you only need to solve 3 but there's 4 puzzle sections, so they have alt variants of the failstates on each round too (fail 1st vs fail 2nd and die).

Repeat this level of depth across something like 40-50 games, and then add on the actual core plot of this game itself, and it adds up fast. I think my total playtime was about 90 hours and that's excluding time spent in my notepad doc taking notes.

Yeah it's hard for me to say either way, personally the origins of the gods wasn't even a question I was looking for an answer for. Sort of like asking for the origins of magic in Harry Potter, it didn't cross my mind, the magic is a tool to establish rules for the world so the story is a little more interesting than a true to life one. GoF does a great job explaining exactly what Bell's magic is capable of, and giving a conclusion using those established rules that felt fitting and that's all I needed to enjoy the mystery of the game.

The important part for me is that the sequel supposedly is just another game run by another god

A lot of it is a wild ride setup for Decide 4 God like the fake Jasmine and does a real Jasmine even exist? BMEC would take you half a day probably shorter because you probably read fast and absorb information quickly like myself.

Finished Akiha's route. What is there to say? Everything about this route was superb, and I have no worthwhile criticism. I just wish Akiha and Shiki had the happy ending they deserved. But oh well.

I think I read through it all in 12-15 hours. I would highly recommend it. And like I said the finale should be finished any time so it's a good time to read the only thing finishing what Zero Escape started. If you think the ending of HASC was convoluted (how?) then you should read BMEC because its TRUE END threw a lot of people for a loop (lol) and visit the discord to talk about the ending if you have problems with it
Personally I'm waiting for the last part of Decide 4 God to release before finishing the read. EA release was June with an expectation of 2-4 months for 100% so any time!

It's been a few years but I just remember it opening more questions than answers. Which makes sense because it has the other games to set up, but for a standalone mysteryge it's not ideal. If I picked the series back up it'd start with rereading HASC for sure because while I remember some individual twists and the cast, my memory of it is hazy at this point.

I've mostly read mainstream/bigger stuff this year. I guess I should give a shout out to The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, it took me literally almost 200 hours to get through it so I'll blame it for me not picking up smaller titles recently. I wouldn't be surprised if you already heard of it over and over, it's the lovechild of Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi. It has the exact sort of vibes and plots you'd expect from that pairing, lots of mystery routes and overarching mystery plots. I think it's reasonable to call it the most ambitious VN-adjacent game I've ever played, it's less like 1 visual novel and more like a dozen visual novels with the same cast. It does have gameplay but as a multi-route game with skippable repeated fights, you run out of actual gameplay other than choices and menu navigation eventually and then there's just 100 hours of visual novel story left. I was surprised at how competently it was put together and how even with how much content they dumped into it, it didn't leave me hating any twists in the game *cough, ZTD*

But NOW I have only one question: how did Vendetta manage to resist raping Zephyr again all this time especially when he's so cute and hot ? The next question is how old was Zephyr when Maina raped him? . The first time I read that scene, I randomly guessed 17-18, but now that I think about it...
Maina is described to be the oldest amongst all orphans and to be below 20, so she's 19. She treats Zephyr like her child, so I believe that already leaves out 17-18. I distinctively remember her telling him that "it is 10 years too early for him to worry about her", which perhaps would make him 9? But then sperm starts being produced only at the age of ~11, so younger is impossible for plot reasons. Then, her only CG in game depicts her as if we are looking up to her, as if she's taller than us. In addition in Chitose's route I think, Zephyr experiences the same feelings looking at Vendetta, as though looking at someone "taller" than him, someone older, someone he knows... looking at the growth spurt amongst males and females, I can leave out 13-16 too. So, this leaves us with ~12. In addition, why is Vendetta's body that of a loli around the age of ~12 too? Might be even wilder headcanon, but I think because Zephyr's sperm that impregnated her was that of a 12 years old boy. And we know the consequences of this was that Maina was able to remain her original self (wont accept any other answer regarding this btw) even after being turned into "Artemis". Zephyr later joining military at such young age can be explained that there were no restrictions for who could join, + Chitose was around the same age as him, so her grandpa picked a commoner boy like Zephyr for her to learn something from his way of life too
Tldr Zephyr was ~12 and Vendetta was 19 when *that* happened. Damn.
