Not only has Sony not rescinded their policies after all this time, but Steam and Nintendo have all adopted similar, arguably even worse versions since. This constitutes a near-total platform lockout for almost their entire fucking pre-2020 catalog, which has now become impossible to release anywhere that isn't a backwater PC storefront with 1000 total users without massive censorship. For fuck's sake, they can't even release some of their most tame games on Nintendo consoles any more. You seem to not grasp that video games are just as much aesthetics as anything else, and Compile Heart has a defined aesthetic that let them stand out from the crowd. One that is now under heavy siege, which is pushing them to abandon it, and thus the base it attracted. Compile Heart are being forced to cede basically their entire identity by platform holders, and your response is "uhhh sink or swim bro". So yes, I am going to call out victim blaming where it applies. Because it is not just CH the company being victimized here, but everyone who enjoys this style and aesthetic of games. They've tried to adapt by moving their games to other platforms. Both Steam and Nintendo then pulled the rug on them the same way Sony did. They've tried to adapt by removing the "problematic elements" from their games and trying to find a new niche in different genres. This pissed off their fanbase and lead to lower sales, not helped by the fact that the new ideas tend to be half-baked and clearly born more of desperation than anything else. Because that's what happens when the ENTIRE FUCKING INDUSTRY suddenly pulls the rug out from under you.
