I'll keep the snail as a companion, they'll help me when I have to have that nasty surgery done if I survive that.

I think I'd still offer the same advice as last time. I think you should move on entirely from them and find some real friends.
As bad as this situation might have been, you've got a good chance now to work on yourself.
I don't want to sound preachy but maybe avoiding alcohol or at least dont drink enough to get drunk might be a good idea too.
