there was never, ever any intention to remake emerald's battle frontier in ORAS.

HGSS had its battle frontier copy-pasted from platinum.
ORAS had its battle-whatever copy-pasted from XY.

but the funny part about ORAS to me is that it has more megas than XY, making it the definitive game for gen 6 competitive.

2/3rds of the VGCs in gen 6 had to use oras cartridge games, not xy cartridge games for this reason.

smoggies calls their gen 6 formats 'oras' formats for this reason.

there wasn't anything like this in gen 4 afaik. DP/Platinum/HGSS have equal battle content, unlike XY which literally has less battle content than ORAS.

what you really want, even if you don't realize it, is pokemon Z version (to tie up xy's numerous loose-ends), and Delta Emerald version (for muh frontier and other emerald-exclusive content - since that's the only way you'd get it, with an explicit remake of emerald, as opposed to oras which is just a remake of masuda's og 2002 ruby-sapphire).
Of course neither of these were ever going to happen either because game freak is not the type of company to give fans what they want. by gen 6 they were on a strict schedule with global release deadlines and getting gen 7 out on time was more important than making gen 6 good.
