>Imagine if mexico or Sudan or Afghanistan
None of those places were stone age societies.
The Aztecs were a deceptively sophisticated bronze age society, and Sudan (and to a lesser extent Afghanistan) had been a province of several empires on-and-off for basically forever. None of these people were, or are, cavemen; they're all some spectrum of peasant farmer, perfectly familiar with society.
Now if you were talking about actual uncontacted people, who've lived a stoneage lifestyle for literally forever: 'modern global society' already agrees that they shouldn't be touched, should be left alone, and that if they do want access to modernity it should come on their own terms as they see fit. Modern society is typically extremely traumatic to them and functionally destroys their society and ability to retain homoestasis.
A lot of them live a mesolithic lifestyle: hunting, fishing, gardening, clothing, actual huts, etc.. And these cultures can 'sometimes' adapt and carry on something resembling normalcy. Some uncontacted people however literally live as our Homo Erectus ancestors did: no clothing, no gardening, grass nest, with a material culture of maybe 5-6 items, and cannot handle anything resembling modernity. At all. They're basically talking animals, their needs and rights are more in line with great apes: they need to be protected from loggers and miners who shoot them at their convenience.
