I like that the drawback from becoming a demigod is Flygja staying dormant. With the problem being the incentive to have them travel. Shows that he can't spam it all the time and making events flow naturally.
I hope from the elf queen's design that they are brutal. Instead of the stereotypical peace-loving bunch.

He was offended by Otr's offer for mercy and saw it as some sort of a moral superiority stance. To prove Otr wrong gave him satisfaction before death, in addition to his personality that likes angering people. As for Otr he isn't above fighting or killing people. But he doesn't want unnecessary bloodshed

His methods are cowardly, not his dedication to his conviction. Especially after his whole outlook of life got insulted from his viewpoint.
