It felt like there was hope for more astounding video game developments for the future. It also had the feeling of an art in flux. Many arcades that had held on against all odds were finally giving up the ghost, but home consoles were simultaneously finally attaining enough power to equal arcades. It was a weird time, but a far better time. Now arcades are hard to find and home consoles are worse than PCs, but better than modern arcade cabs.
