You're right. I used to live in that neighborhood I posted. Most of the buildings were built from 1880-1930. IMO it's the most beautiful area in the entire city, although I have a soft spot for the old colonial neighborhoods too. 1940's-1990's are mostly featureless brick squares. Post 1990's are when the Mexican built plywood nightmares start coming into play. My family has lived in this city for about 200 years. I can go and look at most of the houses they lived in. They get further and further away from the city center, becoming more featureless and grey with every generation. The cultural malaise has permeated every crevice of American society.
