I enjoyed it.
I would have liked it more if it had stayed more a political story than what it ultimately turned into, but I still enjoyed it.
Theres some plot holes that never quite get resolved, Side-quests while have some great story beats and lore especially at the end, to get them you must do ALL side quest, most of which are forgettable and simple fetch quest.
Gear progression is kind of lame too. The weapons look cool for sure, but its always just "equip bigger number" and only 1 accessory that I can think of really changes how you play the game and is one you likely won't switch off of once obtaining it.
Theres a scenery change for the world later on that saps the vibrancy of much of the world, which many didn't care for as well. I was a bit indifferent myself on this part though.
Music is great though, Combats a lot of fun though too easy (and they lock the higher difficulty behind at least one completion which is dumb), Some may not like action, but I enjoy both turn based and action games, so it was a non-issue for me. Story was enjoyable despite some holes and a diversion from what I expect them to do with it, voice acting and art direction were great, eikon battles were very cool, and narratively I really enjoyed they way they were interpreted for 16, which makes the story not utilizing them more for politics and warfare a bit disappointing. I hope they do something with that idea again.
Not my favorite FF, but solid and enjoyable for me at least with a satisfying conclusion.
