Yeah I don't think I've bothered to field Saizo ever since the upgrade stage. There's just nothing really going for base Tyranado. At least Rex has a MAP and can do great numbers, plus it has Rami as a subpilot.

At least the Quark Cluster Nova IS an actually good move once it's unlocked. The protag having a MAP with the Rex allows you to get it decently early if you hit a few Fronts.
