You're right. At least it marginally improves my life because I no longer have to think about moving abroad. I'm returning to my home state tomorrow and probably won't even think about changing states, which is something I was thinking about a lot recently. Always bet on nothing : it never gets better. There is no way you as an individual can meaningfully improve your life beyond a few basic things, all of which I've already done. It's just wageslave and grindmaxxing after that and being shat on by your social superiors in every conceivable way like a serf/peon. There is really no way to avoid it. You just cope. That is the fundamental nature of human society all the way back to ancient antiquity.
