Yeah that's probably one of their rifles slug guns, they are actually a little expensive because they are low volume production guns designed for a specific niche.

Speaking of Savage, their model 340 is interesting. It was a budget hunting rifle marketed shortly after WW2 when there was a brief shortage of new hunting rifles. It incorporated a nut to secure the barrel to the receiver, which Savage would go on to use on other designs. Early barrels are even said to be recycled from scrap machine gun barrels but I have doubts of that being true.

It is also somewhat unique in being chambered in 30-30 Winchester which is more typically associated with lever actions, but was a pretty standard deer cartridge at the time. Due to relatively low chamber pressure, these rifles only have one locking lug (and a long safety lug that mostly acts as a guide lug during routine use) allowing for an extremely smooth bolt throw. It feeds from a detachable 3-shot magazine.

It wasn't a bad rifle. Perhaps a bit crude, but it did have some innovative features to keep the price low.
