Hosts consistently ruin this game for everybody, how do you go from DS2/DS3 peak PvP experience to the garbage that is Elden Ring's 3v1 with 200 lasers covering the screen?

That's not why it's bad, you hack n' slash shitter...

>No auto-invasion areas like Pontiff or Swamp or Darkroot
>Max of 4 players--usually 1 host, 2 phantoms, and 1 red--while DS3 had a max of 6 and could end up with 4v2 or even 3v3 scenarios
>No invading solo hosts unless they're using the tongue. If you want to be randomly invaded during normal play it just funnels non-stop invader after invader until you turn the tongue off. If you're the invader, most solo hosts are shitty bonfire duelists instead of people playing through the game, defeating the purpose
It just needed some of the elements from DS3's PVP mechanics and it'd be the best in the series. Also, like >>717181087 said, you don't need twinked out gear to make an op early game invader.
