right i know the difference between college and university in the UK, or at least i think i do, i was making the point that most of your universities were founded within like the last 50 years i thought, that might not be true and maybe im just mis-remembering, but i could have sworn i read somewhere that oxford/cambridge prevented new universities from being formed for centuries to keep their own status
might be wrong but i think the reason i went down that rabbit hole is that so many of our universities are like 1800s founded etc with the classic ones like yale harvard 1600s or 1700s or whatever, and i was surprised that so many of yours (besides oxford cambridge) are like 1950s 1960s
what it might be now that i look at pic related is that many of these schools are founded forever ago but only got "university status" whatever that means more recently, like bristol for example founded 1595 but university 1909
basically a country as old as england and throw in scotland and all that i always expected like tons of 1700s 1800s universities

anyway i'm sorry for this very non-football side discussion
