i think so, but i also enjoyed heroes and infinity strash.
like in stars you have 3 blank slate characters you have to roll equipment for. in addition to equipment there are also memories that give extra stats and additional effects, like increased resistant or damage against certain elements or monster families. some high-tier ones also give you blessings or other gameplay changers, like the king slime memory that allows staff users to pierce enemies

the gameplay itself is pretty simple, you enter a stage, you defeat enemies, you get exp, fill the exp bar, and every time you fill the exp bar, you get a blessing, a buff that stays until the end of the stage.
some mobs use larger attacks that are a little harder to avoid, but they're shown in the typical red area danger zones like in any other action or MMO game.
