/v/ - [HORRIBLE NEWS] 50% of the video games layoffs in the past few years are in california

People like that will never understand, anon. He thinks that California genuinely has the same cultural power and reach it did in the 80-00 period, which is crazy to me when CA has been businessmaxxing ever since the dotcom era.
Total progressive cope that the state has been relevant culturally in years. You killed ska, you killed punk, you killed rock. You killed every genre of film that isn't focus-tested to death, to the point that FUCKING A24 produces more auteur-tier projects than half of Hollywood. You killed mobile so brutally that the only way to get out of the sinkhole was with 15 years of technological progress, allowing the Chinese to make full-fledged RPGs on mobile hardware. You killed Silicon Valley, which was called that because it was one of the premier producers of silicon chips in the world. You started the deathknell of video games with moving everything into California and then aggressively increasing the budget and standards until it was fundamentally impossible for games to succeed with the returns they're required to make.
God I can't wait for GTA6 to bomb.
/v/ - FFXIV

NTA but as a viewer at a certain point you can't just keep throwing primals at the WoL.
After EW, frankly, I don't think FFXIV can ever pull another Primal and expect the player to feel threatened for any reason. I know, narratively, the justification for why this is supposed to be threatening to me, but I don't feel it because I've rolled vastly stronger enemies on a regular basis.
>he's immortal!!!!
So like every Primal?
>he resurrects!!!
So like every Primal?
The only difference here is the rate of revival. You cannot expect viewers to take these threats seriously when at the end of EW the WoL has not only killed primals, but also the concept of entropy, Hydaelyn, Zodiark, and every single one of the gods. They need a new approach. The problem is that SHB>EW has massively ramped up the powerscale to absurd degrees and now it's hard to take the game as seriously when it comes to villains, due to the comedic level of conflicts achieved previously. Its a classic shonen issue.
