Would be based, but won't happen. Brazil, like all South American states is plagued by internal issues that end up taking a large part of its political energy, to the point that not much of it is left to be spent outside the country. A cynical way of looking at it is that if the Brazilian state already struggles to forcefully impose its will (its laws, its institutions, etc) WITHIN its own borders, then what capacity can it hope to have to impose its will OUTSIDE of it? Not much. Even what we could spare won't be sent, since there's no political support for it within the country. Our diplomatic position is against intervention of any foreign power in South America, but as it stands, I wouldn't expect much from us other than the traditional "deeply concerned" statement being put out.
