The man was locked into a punch animation, he wasn't grabbing. The enemies do have collision bumping into each other, which you can see from the kick at the start here. They just pull the hitboxes in tight for a lot of things because with the amount of enemies on screen, things would be a clusterfuck if they had Dark Souls sized collision and hitboxes. Try playing games instead of shitposting about them.
