I think anyone that was here for an extended period of time pre-2016 realized all the /pol/ shit was both astroturfed and ruined the rest of the site by attracting actual nazis from places like reddit and facebook who thought 4chan was the new stormfront. It used to be the subject matter of each particular board was generally self-contained and they had their own unique identities and outlooks based on the people using those boards. Then /pol/tards showed up and turned every single board into endless shilling for Republicans and Zionism. It got so fucking annoying trying to discuss anime on /a/ and like half the retards are yapping about "wokeness" and "DEI" in a fucking Japanese product. Hell even /ck/ had a bunch of racists trying to insist America was being "colonized" by ethnic food or some retarded shit.
I think anons are just kinda getting fed up with it all. The /pol/ brainrot doesn't add anything to the site and just creates a lot of thought-terminating buzzwords that can be brought up to instantly ruin any discussion. It's not really a surprise every other board on the site besides /v/, /vg/, and /vt/ have seen a huge decline in posters as 4chan has become less interesting and just yet another corporate media platform in the reddit-facebook-twitter normiesphere for pushing propaganda.
