It's not even that. Using the TLOU2 example as it was mentioned earlier, progressive values are distributed among both sides of the conflict.
The problem is when said values (which are extremely recent and often untested ideas) get implemented and taken for granted amongst all characters as if it's representative of the reality we live, or should live in.
TLOU utterly fails to explore the fact Ellie is a lesbian despite so much of her interactions harping on that point. From an utilitarian standpoint, everyone is able to intuit that it would be potentially beneficial for her tribe if she had children because of her natural immunity to the virus. Especially given TLOU's setting, people would become maximally tribalistic.
But aside from a throwaway character like Seth being a punching bag for the "bigot sandwiches" line because he just so happens to not like homos for whatever reason, there isn't anything of substance to her identity or personal struggle. Her whole community simply accepts her because LGBT is so heckin' valid, even in a post-apocalyptic context.
What's so funny about all of this is that cutting up a 14 year old to make a vaccine is less of a daring subject to tackle in a video game story (and the games try their fucking HARDEST to make you ponder such a decision) than her just producing offspring eventually.
