I actually do like the spider family as a sort of "post-game" to Spidey. A good cast for when Peter Parker is on the verge of retirement and his own arcs have wrapped up.

That includes the multiverse stuff. I really think it only works narratively as a final arc to Spiderman. Not the kind of story you can tell before going right back to street-level kingpin stuff
