Blizzcon situations this is normal for competent (if corrupt) organizations. If you are hyper vigilant then you'd also make them full on reliable plants rather than just players you trust (who could go renegade).
The last time a fanfest got announced (the first one, at least) it was like a 2-3 month delay between it and the fanfest so we might be looking at november-ish? Even if I am sour on the game I'm still interested to see where it goes next to see if it'll reinvigorate my enthusiasm.
