yes flying really does seem to be catered to the dopamine addicted pigs who need an IV drip connected to their trough at all times, in a manner of speaking. In this latest update stream, Kuro even mentioned they will make flying easier, so that you don't have to jump to get airborne. If flying really is meant to be so overpowered, they should at least make it difficult, have a longer skill tree, more skill tree options, and make it more like microsoft flight sim, if they are going to make it such that you can just skip over the world they crafted to get around. People really do seem averse to immersion. You can literally just fast travel anywhere. At a certain point, ease of transportation runs contrary to the design philosophy of "open world" games
as a former Runescape player, my best memories of the game were the struggles of overcoming ridiculous grinds. It was the traumatic imprint of expending so much efforts that generated the best memories. I do see respecting the players time as an argument for certain qualities of life, but I don't think making the content more skippable by flying over it should be the goal of the game's development
