The game has a really weak start.
You wake up to a trio that has no chemistry with you or one another, they're throwing all this technical jargon at you that you don't really understand. Your eyes glaze over almost immediately.
When you meet Jinhsi things start to get more interesting but it's a while until that happens and the 'figure out these four clues' shit is mind numbing.
Aalto and Encore are great characters though and it's bizarre the game discards them as quickly as it does.
I honestly think they should be your constant companions, showing up periodically throughout the story quests to support you as members of the Black Shores.

The story picks up quite a bit in Rinascita and that has a lot to do with the fact that Rinascita has a much more interesting narrative hook with Leviathan and the Order, more interesting characters who are more constant in the story, and more effective villains in Cristoforo and Phrolova.

I just skipped all of that shit, otherwise I would had quit. Actually, I was thinking of quitting until they handed out the 5 star standard ticket and 30 stamina cubes, what with all the bugs (like the game not playing the BGM for a week straight bug and such). The worst part is the game not having a good hook to bait the player wanting to know more, the only thing that interested me was the black shores with how cute Encore was, and Camellya being sexo, but that's on like act 4.
My recommendation to Kuro would be to have the game start with a playable flashback of Geshu and Jiyan fighting the threnodian or something to hook the player into wanting to learn about that, and slowly introducing the members of the cast, instead of fucking around for like 2 hours with a mangosteen and a chink clock that ultimately mean nothing to the overall plot.

The somnoire has nothing to do with any character, or the world, which is why utterly irrelevant. This game is a character driven story, so the important events HAVE to be directly started and ended by the playable cast, or the villains. If the cats were to become playable characters (like Yoruichi from Bleach) then I would concede your point, or if they were created or related to Rover like Abby. But they are not. Not only that, other than the cool scene at the end it was boring as fuck, and every character story meaningless because they were all a dream (and they don't reveal new information or characterization for the cast).

The actual problem with 1.0 was that together with the story not being great due to the rewrites, the game didn't run well at release on basically any hardware, it had tons of bugs including one that made so the entire OST stopped working, english translation was really rough, english voice acting was uninspired at best, you only had some guy banner for waifu collectors and there was no "it gets better later" to motivate people to stay (at that point EOS was even a possibility). Only 1.0 was bad because of rewrites on short notice (cbt had some weird story where everyone hated the mc for no reason, and they kinda had to push too far on the other side as well) and because it was a bugged mess (they probably ran out of money and had to release, something that will probably happen with many of the new high profile gacha). Mt firmament was a beautiful region with a concise and well done story, and so was black shores (it had a better story but not explained well, especially the very conclusion). 2.x is a different style, exploration was streamlined (you can checklist on it, but I would recommend exploring normally first even if you use the wings), the story became more approachable being less sci-fi, and at that point the game was a lot more polished and development accelerated with content being released at a better pace.

World of warcraft flying destroyed game exploration for 2 generations at the very least. They all now expect turn on a dime 0 G floating devices which skip all terrain, dangers, mobs and inconveniences while they watch the netflix and stuff fast food down their gullet.
To care about the game world is "icky" because it means they don't have "freedom" to ignore the game altogether. At least the chinese had the dignity to give you a limited flight device which can run out of juice and needs constant attention instead of being a cheat code disguised as a flying mount, but it allegedly required a whole fucking year of tinkering to get it done right, and probably cost a fuckton of time and resources. All of that, so the playerbase has less cool moments to see, so that the gameplay path the devs create for the audience can get 100% ignored and less memorable sights can be encountered.

A few weeks ago i saw some huge lizards fighting in Septimont and swooped in to level them off, after which some npcs jumped out of the bushes to thank me for saving their lives, give me my gems and then fuck off, but after finishing that "quest" i noticed i had another quest close by, so i went to check it. Turns out, it was the prelude to this huge lizard quest i had unknowingly skipped because i flew over it to frag the monsters, so i had to watch the same npcs which had thanked me seconds earlier do their thing and tell me, who they had already talked to but not forgot, that there's two giant lizard shaped statues they want to get rid of.

That's only one quest ruined by flight, there's many more.

That's the point of vehicles irl, to "skip" the travel times, because people want to get faster to their destinations precisely because they don't care about the "open world" irl. Never looked at it that way before, but it makes perfect sense, unless you're talking about a game world in which the stuff you see along the way is the reason why you're in the game world to begin with, so skipping it makes no sense whatsoever. It's a battle between the vision of the developer and their greed for cash. Players can respect their time best by quitting playing video games altogether, but they somehow forget that they're in control of their lives. Devs have an incentive to bait all sorts of players, even those who have less than 30mins-1hour to play every day, so they will try to fool people into thinking their open world game isn't that time intensive.
The burden of choice always falls onto the player in the end however it's the dev's choice whether they want to dilute and destroy their vision for more money, which will 100% end up biting them in the ass later in terms of player retention, because players who skip playing your game are not attached to it. They will just end up leaving when Endfield or Silver Palace or Ananta or NTE comes out, because they're locust type players who play games because they're novelty, not because they enjoy playing them.

There's a lot of tricks to certain characters and as much as the game isn't super difficult there's a decent skill celling possible with swaps and other things. I really think characters having standout animations decently robust for a mobile game kits and the ability to overlap them with swapping to make it a matter of juggling that takes those decent for mobile kits into something that can be pushed to be as involved as a full on action game is one of its strengths.
Calcharo gaming will always be a high to me. Likewise Sprover Zani is really fun to me.

erm, I think what this game is missing is something Runescape had, at one point. In certain slayer task locations, they were very far out of the way, and you had to do "runs" to get there, meaning, you had to brave certain parts of the map, running in narrow paths whilst being pelted at by monsters, having to turn prayer on during certain portions, and sneaking through certain corridors, using agility skills, all in the span of one run to get to one certain location for a slayer task. God Wars Dungeon is another example of this, having to go through dangerous winding paths where you could encounter high level NPCs. Runs like these are what made the world feel more interactive, rather than just teleporting somewhere
