He was an Ionian fisherman who got enslaved by Noxus and forced to fight for his life in their pits 'till Demacia rescued him and took him in. He personally trained J4 and went from Noxian slave to honorable Seneschal in Demacia.
Of course, this is new Riot, and we can't have Chinese immigrant hero be part of le evil racist Demacia now, so they're trying to detach or remove him from the region. (Bonus points if they do that shit with Shyvana too. They already tried with the ruination and mageseeker, but VGU will probably be the final nail and make her from Camavor or some shit)
