Unrelated, pikeys are entirely of Irish blood. Nobody is quite sure when they adopted a vagrant lifestyle. The Irish try pawn it off as the famine or Cromwell’s fault for driving some of their own kind to take up this lifestyle in desperation (boohoo) but geneticists believe they actually split off from the mainstream “settled” Irish centuries before then. It’s probable they were just a clan of gaels driven off their land by rival clans and decided never to abandon their niche.
