I have a character I really love, but her fandom loves to ship her with a male character from her universe and as a result of this, I not only get heartache anytime I look up fanart of her, as much of that fanart is of her having fun with, flirting with, engaging in romantic, bittersweet melodrama with, or even sex with said male character, I'm also worried that if the original creator ever puts out another sequel, he'll have the two of them officially start dating eachother and make it canon.
When I initially fell in love with her, I remember how much it hurt when I looked up art of her and found all of the best artworks to be depictions of her with someone else and I'm afraid that if I go all the way and dedicate my life and soul to her instead of keeping her under the rug like I do now, it would cause untold amounts of damage to my sanity in case something like that were to happen.
