actually it proved they don't.
-adding a block button removed cross-ups entirely.
and then they fucking mapped roll to the block button, so it's mandatory to use.

and then there's the special move shortcuts.
-shorukens should never be a neutral (or down) 1 button input. they're balanced around the shoruken motion to NOT be a frame perfect reversal. also by not including a direction in the input, it auto killed crossups.
-360' grab specials should never be a neutral 1 button input. 360's are balanced around the motion. players should fear 360' as an option and the input should be masked by jabs or jumps. by letting it be an instant input, they had to lower 360' grab damage significantly and ladiva sucks as a grappler because of it.
-supers should never be a neutral 1+1 button input. again, frame perfect reversals you can just throw out without worry.

The worst thing about the modern granblue inputs is at high level they're mandatory. A small damage reduction means nothing your command throw is fucking instant, your reversal/super being frame perfect and auto tracks.
