/fa/ - new aesthetic i came up with

yeah, its a style that really works for me as someone who "knows all the rules" and has reverence for the classic style, but knows that it doesn't work for the person he is. I'm not a rich guy, most of my stuff is second hand from thrift stores and ebay, and im generally more of a punk at heart anyway so i like to be a little loose and whimsical with it.
The whole idea really is that its applying the /tip/ formula to pieces that wouldn't be found in the average rich wannabe-WASP /tip/sters wardrobe
Sport coats with a trendy, off-beat style, looser fits, wearing ties with shirts that maybe aren't the white-collar "wear-with-a-tie-kind", literally anything but proper dress shoes, and sweaters that are more mark renton than fair-isle
throw in the occasional callback to subcultural menswear styles (mod, teddy boy, skinhead, ska) and you're golden

One of my favorite examples is Jack Blacks character in school of rock, where its obvious he's trying to put together a "ivy schoolteacher" look out of pieces that a broke rock nerd like him would happen to have already, like short-sleeve printed shirts, suede sneakers, clip-on bowties, and skater-fit corduroys. On paper, by the traditional menswear playbook, these shouldn't make for a cohesive look, but they do. it dances the line
