You know, people often talk about how we're still stuck in this very irony-poisoned era where a lot of people are too afraid of being honest over what they like, but I feel like nobody really talks about how a cubic ton of complaints you see these days are coming from people who are trying to trenchcoat some kind of real-world grievance they've experienced, trying to frame it as some kind of valid political position when the actual context behind why they're upset and going nuclear on other people is something like:
>this character/IP reminds me of that time I got beat up on the playground (or beat up by my shitty day [or beat up by my whore mom {or-}])
And no matter what you say or do you just can't ever get them to admit what actually happened because they're so damn afraid and paranoid all the time.
