consider your overall audience
+ what makes your product special?
+ what kind of people do you envision enjoying your product?
+ dont shill on 4chan, at least initially. backdoor it by shilling on other sites, everything always leads back here
+ make something that resonates with people. resonating and relating are two of the most important things as a creative. even if it's not the main character (they serve as the window character mostly and in a fantasy setting their role should start out small and then grow once your audience is more familiarized with what's going on), having a variety of side characters or other party members.
for example in persona 4 or 5 i doubt most here could relate with being chad thundercock and just effortlessly swoozle your way into the hearts of your classmates without even trying. but i think you could relate with ryuji getting fucked over and exiled from the school track team, yukiko feeling pressured to continue the family business, that sort of thing
