> I use shift instead of alt for normal cast
I think many people go for "SHIFT + " for some in-game mechanics, but the shift-key was not close enough to the most frequent keys I tend to use in-game so I stopped bothering.
> So I gather that the alt key is pretty central to your strategy. But then if you use alt+1234, did you change your itembar hotkeys?
NO! Good that you ask anon, that's the integral thing I believe many don't know about either. MY TRINKET IS STILL ON THE "4"-key! I tend to put any of my passives like Youmuu's or Zhonyas on the regular "3"-Key.
In LoL, if you set key-combinations as your keybinds, whatever else you set to those same solo keys does not come out otherwise, that's the genius-thing of setting everything to "ALT + ".
> Problem there is I am used to having alt as a self-cast modifier. Sigh.
There is no problem, see above! You should definitely give it a try, I never changed my self modifiers lol (They are still ALT + QWER), they don't conflict at all. I still use "ALT + W" for Kayle's self-heals, as example.

Check it out in practice tool and try some games with it, you'll understand what I mean. The advantage you get from setting up keybinds like this is that everything is bundled in a neat and compact manner with keys you already used in the first place! (aka you don't have to reach for F-Keys at the very top of your keyboard, no weird "I"-key for the shop, etc.)
