Yes. I had this realization while somewhat drunk that it doesn't fundamentally make sense to spray chemicals into chronically inflamed lungs even though to some extent it does control things. I simply decided I'd rather die than continue this. My wife begged, pleaded, called my doctor, the whole fucking 9 yards but I was just done. I had some terrible nights in particular, but moderate exercise to get things pumping better, then if anything gets loosened, coughing it up, but when shit is inflamed, breathe calmly and deeply, and most importantly do not panic. It took 6 months or so for the inflammation to die down and my body to learn that help was not coming. It fucking sucked but in my case it was inflammation and not being a fat alcoholic that sprayed shit daily into his lungs eventually did it.
