It directly introduces Aita's DNA actually doing something as shown in AC3, introduces the concept of Sages which are then used in Elijah, Germaine in Unity, and that guy Lydia kills in Syndicate, shows that it's not just happening in one gene pool but humanity as a whole, and sets up Juno trying to be brought back by Aita and the Instruments of the First Will (Who aren't named yet if I remember right).

It also directly talks about how the new Animus works, how Vidic somehow got non-ancestral DNA reading working before he died (He stole it from some other chick in Abstergo who died testing it to try and beat him), how they can even make Abstergo Entertainment work, how Abstergo is now having blood drives to harvest every human on Earth's DNA for them to sift through freely (How Rogue, Unity, and Syndicate even happened), and how they grabbed Desmond's body, chopped it up, and are now using it for both propaganda and an Assassin bloodline meaning they have a leg up on William's operation on top of the commune Desmond grew up in for a bit.

You really gotta pay attention because there was a lot explained and established in Black Flag alone. They even talked about future bloodlines they could do like "Jack the Ripper" for example to hint at future games.
