>do show me where did I ever said that EVERY character is ALWAYS being perfectly stoic?
It's in the bait OP which you are attacking people for disagreeing with "why is everyone an emotionless zombie" is a direct quote. This is essentially a motte and bailey fallacy, OP says there is no emotion, posters respond that there is, then you jump in to attack those posters constantly using the Fern straight face frame which was posted in agreement with OP except you now try to shift the argument to "relatively flattened emotion" which is still wrong, just less obviously so than the original premise.
>The characters in this animated show are relatively emotionally flattened.
No they aren't, you just ignore or minimize when clear emotions are shown, both in the actual fight with Fern (gasping, flailing, mouth open, grimacing) and outside of it when multiple characters respond emotionally to other things.
>teenage girl with little experience
war orphan autist raised and trained purely for fighting from childhood by war mage autist
> it works obviously to the detriment of the story
None of this is to the detriment of the story, it enhances the story and informs the characters. Fern has trained for battle for years, she has never trained for teenage romance or dealing with other people, which is why those things cause her more emotional turmoil than battle. Fern is INTENTIONALLY portrayed this way to say something about her and about Frieren who raised her.
